Classes: All classes given at Colbyglass Studio are private or semi-private lessons. That is, with the exception of Casting, any class you take will be a one-on-one with the instructor, unless you have a friend or family member that would like to take the class with you. This enables the instructor to give 100% of their attention to your development, making for great learning environment. Private lessons also make it easier to fit into a busy schedule. Scheduling make-up classes will be no problem as long as there is a minimum 24 hour advance notice for the missed class and the make-up. Colbyglass Studio offers many different ways to work with glass. Glassblowing dates back thousands of years. Working with a blowpipe and a few elementary tools the artisan can heat and shape the glass into many different beautiful objects. Torchworking is a more modern way to work with glass. Using a small heat source, like a torch, the artist can make small intricate items that would not be possible with the larger traditional glassblowing heat sources. Most recently developed is the process of glass Fusing. This technique was developed for artists to work with cold sheet glass in order to fabricate glass items. The glass is then heated to melting temperature in a kiln to form the final piece. |
